Judy And Rick’s Story Of A Diamond Engagement Ring

When Rick and I became engaged 50+ years ago, my future mother in-law gave me a beautiful diamond, which became the center of my diamond engagement ring. Rick purchased the rest of the stones and settings. Over the decades the rings have never been changed, and have always held great sentimental value. Now, with our 50th wedding anniversary approaching, my husband and I made the decision to have my diamond engagement rings remounted into a new setting.

We’ve known Frank and Kim Yanke for over 20 years. I’ll never forget Frank’s advice from many years ago: If you’re making a serious investment in jewelry, deal with a jeweler at home that you trust. Well, throughout the years the Yankes certainly earned our trust. We arrived at Yanke Designs with my diamond engagement and wedding rings along with some diamonds from both our mothers – it was so important to preserve the memories of these wonderful women. With Frank’s help we came up with the most beautiful custom design a girl could dream of. I went from a two-ring set to one ring. Then it was time for Kim to work her magic on the building of the ring. Not long after, the Yankes called us with the good news: the ring was ready. We rushed to the shop in Franklin. My heart pounded as my husband slipped the ring on my finger – as thrilling now as it was 50 years ago! The amazing ring was the crowning touch on our anniversary, which included a trip to our honeymoon location. I can’t thank the Yankes enough for their part in our anniversary celebration. We felt like we were dealing with family. I guess after all these years, we really are.
